The exercises, involving two carrier groups, are the largest of their kind since 2003. As Mr Bush made clear in an address on January 10 that directly blamed Iran for fomenting violence against US forces in Iraq, they are intended to send a clear message to Teheran.

03-28-07 - But Who's Against the Next War? the national-greatness conservatism advanced by neoconservative figures like William Kristol, and in large measure adopted by the Bush administration as it prepared for war in Iraq, finds its echo in a national-greatness liberalism among leading Democrats This only demonstrates that what AIPACers want - they get - no matter the political party.

03-28-07 - Israel boosts Golan troops as contingency -general Israel has reinforced its troops in the Golan Heights as a precautionary step, though neighbouring Syria does not appear to be planning an attack, Israel's top general was quoted as saying on Wednesday.

03-28-07 - Picking on Halliburton On an individual level, many well-known neoconservatives have moved seamlessly between the contractors and the think tanks, filling their bank accounts along the way. They include all-too-familiar names such as William Kristol, Stephen Bryen, Richard Perle, Dov Zakheim, Robert Joseph, Douglas Feith, Paul Wolfowitz, and Frederick Kagan. Vice President (and former Secretary of Defense) Dick Cheney and former Secretary of Defense Donald Rumsfeld have done the revolving door one better, moving from senior government posts to senior executive positions with the defense contractors, where they made millions of dollars before moving back into government at the highest levels.....The multilateral relationship involving U.S. contractors, Israel's defense industry, and former U.S. and Israeli government officials is both incestuous and apparently frequently beyond the rules that govern international arms sales. FBI whistleblower Sibel Edmonds has recently said that unsealing the Bureau's investigative reports on Perle, Feith, and former State Department number three Marc Grossman would reveal that they all engaged in what she describes as treasonous activity reportedly linked to illegal weapons sales.

03-28-07 - Iran, Israel, and our Shared Security Goals Israel is facing the greatest danger for its survival since the 1967 victory. Israel maintained its dominance since 1967 even after the 1973 failure. In 1984 I wrote that WMD and terrorism would pose a threat for US national security. If two or three cities are destroyed because of terrorism both the US and Israel?s democracy will be eroded and both will become greater dictatorial societies. Has anyone informed Newt that America is NOT Israel? More: "We can?t live next to a Palestinian state that wants to destroy Israel." Who's 'we'?
