Michael Savage, Israel-firster

A friend of mine listens to this former granola-munching liberal-cum-'conservative'(neocon) rant and rave on his nightly radio program. It always seemed strange to me that Michael Savage never addresses the elephant in the room - the Israeli lobby in America. He touches on just about every other subject critical to America in his maniacal broadcasts. As a matter of fact, Savage is known to hang up on callers that attempt to criticize Israel - and then usually he proceeds to launch into a vicious assault on the caller thereafter.

In response to several articles critical of Israel by former president Jimmy Carter, Savage had this to say:

On the May 16 edition of his nationally syndicated radio program, Michael Savage declared that former President Jimmy Carter is a "Jew-hater" and a "war criminal" who "is like Hitler" because of his criticism of Israeli policies in the West Bank. Savage added that Carter is a "communist, anti-American, anti-Semitic bastard" who has "caused worldwide Islamic terrorism to proliferate around the globe."

Not only does Savage refuse to address the matter of the Israeli lobby, but he uses the same tactics employed by that group to smear anyone that dares to criticize Israel. That makes him part of the problem. In fact, Jimmy Carter, a Dem, has a leg up on Savage - at least he has the guts to stand up to the Israeli lobby. Which is more than what could be said for the majority of our Congress, our mainstream media, and our current administration.
